A Jill of all trades and a master at none, I am a weekend warrior and backcountry bon vivant who lives to hike, run, ride, ski, paddle and climb in the great outdoors. I am most often found roaming through the red-rock canyons and mountains of western Colorado with my Jack Russell Terrier, Scooter. Currently living in Carbondale, Colorado I like to say I am not a Colorado native but I got here as fast as I could. In fact it was quite the slow route given that I was born in the UK, growing up on my parent’s farm near the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. However it was here that I fell in love with the natural world, riding horses through the forests and up hill and down dale from a young age. As I grew older, skiing became my greatest passion and I bolted to the Alps every chance I got. After graduating university with a degree in Geography and several years working in investment banking in London, I realized that in order to truly live I needed to break the mold and escape to the mountains permanently. First port of call was Zermatt, Switzerland where I worked for the Ski Club of Great Britain for several winters and then a summer there climbing every mountain I could including many of the European classics.
When offered an opportunity to ski bum for a winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming I jumped at the chance to head to the Wild West and its legendary deep powder. Despite my mother’s warnings, which thankfully I chose to ignore, I was picked up hitchhiking by my now husband Chad on the Moose-Wilson Road. We traveled and lived for several years in Wyoming, Alaska and Arizona before finally settling in western Colorado and making it our home. Now I feel very fortunate to enjoy a career in a place that I love, working as the Finance Director for Pitkin County in Aspen. Outside of work I aim to explore as much of the wild and beautiful places of my local geography as possible, on foot, ski or bike, preferably including a sunrise, sunset or both. I love to devise new routes or find the trail less traveled and truly connect with nature, returning with memories, pictures and words with which to inspire others to explore and revere our beautiful natural world.
