Go-To Mountain Outer Layer Review by MK - Staff

The Women's Crester Jacket is my go to for everything in the mountains! The fabric is really breathable, but also blocks the wind, which is great because I can throw it on in the mornings in town and keep it on the entire day in the Tetons. It's once less thing you have to deal with stuffing into your backpack when you're hot and pulling back out when you're cold. The fabric is stretchy and extremely durable making alpine climbing comfortable (somewhat). The silhouette is a perfect fit that makes you look feminine without being "girly". Overall, perfect jacket for the mountains!

Comfortable and stylish with loads of protection! Review by Liza T - Staff

This soft shell is great because it is less restricting and more breathable than a hard shell. In some situations you just don't need all the water protection of a hard shell. I wore mine as a rain jacket this summer because while not water proof it is extremely water repellent, and it's not as stuffy on warm rainy summer days. On extra cold days I've worn my Azura under my Crester for extra warmth. The fit is super flattering and the enlarged neck in front is cute but also adds extra protection against the elements. You could do pretty much anything in this jacket and look good while doing it.

Soft shell in the city Review by Nicole

Living in Chicago, this jacket was a perfect addition to my windy city jacket collection. This is a great jacket for running around the city on those colder days to keep you warm or even keeping you dry from a light drizzle on a rainy day. They aren't lying when they say "lightweight breathability" and although i'm not hiking up in the mountains, it sure does make my daily commute around the city that much more comfortable. For the fit, I sized up from a medium to a large because I like layering my pieces. It is definitely a more fitted jacket, so it's good to keep that in mind.

Light, stretchy, but surprise purple trim! Review by NorCal

I just received mine and tried it on, so I haven't field tested it or anything, but I thought I'd let people know that the sort of shiny inside hood trim you can see in the picture of the blue jacket (that looks black or maybe navy) is PURPLE. I am now assuming that every outdoor brand in the U.S. is required by law to include either purple, pink, or 80's teal on every single women's item, regardless of how much it clashes. I HATE purple (and pink, and teal), dammit. I was attracted to this jacket largely because of the vibrant blue. Not sure if I'll keep it. You don't really see it when you are wearing it...Other than that, simple, nicely stretchy fabric, light, no lining or anything. I don't know if other people use the pocket lining on the inside of their jackets as an inside pocket, but in this one, you can't because they aren't sewn in on the bottom.

Also, pretty form-fitting, which is more attractive if you are fit, but possibly less so if you would like to disguise a belly or something. I'd size up if you want to layer or just have it not cling.

I expect that this will be a jacket with a year-round purpose: perfect for running on warmer winter days, skiing in spring, standing on top of mountains in summer, and hiking all fall. Lightweight but surprisingly warm. Great against the wind. I haven't stopped wearing it since I bought it. [Size-wise: I hover between a Stio small and medium and opted for small in this jacket. The sleeves are plenty long and arms provide enough room for me to move around.]
