Quality Product

Although have not been able to fully take advantage of use of the two products i bought due to weather being too warm, but the quality of product is easy to see. Also the cut allows for a great fit.

Nice jacket
Review by standardnut

Materal and workmanship are both excellent. The fit is tight on the shoulders and waist (size sm), would like just a bit more room in those areas. I was expecting a very light windbreaker but this is a little more than that. Overall a nice jacket value.

first light jackets perform great
Review by jim

On a recent 2 week trip around Iceland my wife and I had ample opportunity to put our First Light jackets to the test. Being that the weather changes so much throughout the day in Iceland we were able to use the FL jackets as a mid layer under a rain jacket or simply as our primary jacket when the weather was less aggressive.

The FL jackets performed admirably and the received many second looks from the locals who pride themselves immensely on thier national brands of outdoor wear.

Back home in Southern California my FL jacket will now be my go to jacket for cool fall hikes and for sporting around town.

Great jacket. Please make it in Pompeian Red!

Initial impressions are pretty good.

I bought this to replace a Mountain Hardware windshell which I got on a pro deal 17 years ago when I lived in Jackson. That jacket had been a faithful companion, with the zipper finally blowing out this past year. I build up a lot of heat and sweat with minimal exertion, so I wore it all the time, in all conditions except high moisture weather.
Needless to say I have high expectations for the First Light! I picked up last season's version on an end of season sale, so I'm not sure of differences in the 2013-2014.
So far, the fit and fabric are great! I am 6"2" and about 205 with a bigger chest and long arms. I always waffle between a large and x-large -- with larges often being just a bit tight with short arms and x-large usually being too loose all around. The large jacket I bought fits well over a long sleeve fleece w/o too much binding. Good arm length and great rear coverage - a huge plus!!
I like the brushed mesh lining and the pockets - including chest - are a nice upgrade. The drawcords are excellent too - high-quality pulls on both side. I would echo the remarks about the zipper above - a bit tough to start and pull apart as it has a smaller post and pull, but smooth once you get it going. The zipper hoods on the pockets are nice too!
I wish the neck was a little stiffer and a tad bit higher (1/4") to snug your chin down in on a blustery mountaintop day. I noticed the neck liner binding on my unshaven neck a bit. I also wish the logo was embroidered - they are both heat applied and I will be very surprised it that lasts as long as embroidery.
Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the product so far - and very excited to explore other pieces in the line. Having lived in Jackson many, many years ago, I appreciated the ethos of the company and the products. I have been disappointed with the quality and fit of many of the big guys over the years - they just don't build them like they used to and they all look the same. I have high hopes for Stio's ability to bring quality and style back to the industry!!!

Good Jacket
Review by Trev

Overall a good jacket. My only criticism is the main zipper could be easier to start. Once it is on it zips fine but a little hard to start. Could also use a pull string or a larger clasp. Other than that this is a good quality jacket.

This jacket is great, reminds me of my marmot windshell I still have from 20 years ago, but in a great new color. It is light but will keep you warm if things get weird. Packs down small!

Get it on!
Review by Outsider

I am 6'2" 175# w/ a 33" waist. I ordered a large and it was too big. I then ordered a medium and not only did it fit perfectly, but it has performed that way as well. On my first outing I forgot was wearing my new jacket and went about clearing a trail through a hawthorn patch. The shell material withstood everything I could throw at it and kept the wind at bay. The wicking properties are great as well. This is my new Spring go-to piece of gear. It should be yours too!

A well rounded go-to

I've been using the First Light almost daily for my pre-work skins up Snow King. It's a great balance of breathability and wind protection, so breathable and comfy that I often wear only our Divide Tee or Polo under it as I skin up...but so wind resistant that I'm equally comfortable on the descent. I look forward to long rides and trail runs and many more adventures in this style this spring and summer.
