Skin track to worksite; total comfort and durability
Review by Bdogg62

The dilemma of dawn patrols is that I don't do mornings well. When it's dumping blower snow and I need to be in the shop by 0830 saving time is essential. Enter the Hardscrabble Soft Shell Pant. These are by far my new favorites for all endeavors. While they lack certain ski specific features such as integrated powder cuffs and edge guard reinforcement that is a small price to pay for time saved. The fit and freedom of movement reflect a design born of early mornings on the skin track. Lightly insulated they are perfect over a light base layer. Morning turns complete there is no need to change when I clock in at the base for my roll as a boot fitter. After work again there is no change required to meet in town for dinner and drinks. The Hardscrabble pants are a true match for the mountain lifestyle.

These are awesome!
Review by Keri P.

I bought these for my husband. They are his second pair and he was asking for another because he likes them so much. He can wear them fishing and likes that they dry quickly. He also wears them to work. The fabric stretches and is so comfortable. Stio knows how to make high quality products that keeps you asking for more!

Belt loops could be a little more robust--wider. Fit around the thighs took a little while to get used to but now I like it. Very comfortable to hike and run in for cold weather.

Not what I was expecting
Review by Peter K

These aren't bad pants, they just weren't what I was expecting. The material is much heavier than I expected, more like jeans. And the way they are constructed with a fixed length and double hem, there is no way I could get them to fit me.

Great Pant with minor issues
Review by OBie

These are great pants. The fabric is super as far as feel, stretch and looks. The waist is a bit big, so in between, order down. Also, the pant is heavy. The fleece lining of the back packets is a bit much. AND I can't believe there is no choice of pant lengths for this price of gear. What if your pant length is longer then the only one made? I had to have mine hemmed as I'm shorter. A change I think should be made on that point. Over all great, with these few exceptions. Thanks

Great pant for travel
Review by Jim

Love my Hardscrabble pants. Comfortable, look good, easy to wash and dry on the road, durable. I've worn them extensively while hiking and traveling and they are the perfect travel pant for me. Only complaint is the waistband tends to slip a bit, even with an appropriate size pant. The front belt loops are a bit wide, and because they are stretch material, the front of the pant tends to slide under your belt. Not a huge deal. You will definitely want a lightweight belt with this pant.

Runs big
Review by Mark

I liked the product but it was way too big and I returned it. I purchased the size 30 Keeline pants in the store and they fit me perfectly (5'7'', 135 lbs). The size 30 Hardscrabble pant was substantially larger. It's challenging to buy clothing online when the sizing is inconsistent.

Expensive but really nice.
Review by Cnsej

These are great in the cold and rain.

okay but need "tall/long" option
Review by slappy

It would be nice to have a"tall/long" option for these pants. Even nicer would be odd sizes. All in all, quality stuff..

Awesome Pants for Awesome Things
Review by skibum4life

These pants have seen me through two years of winter 14er climbs, morning skins, couloir skis, and ice climbs. They are the perfect weight for temps ranging from 0 to 50 degrees F, with a light fleecy lining that feels great against the skin for those 12 hour days. Never worn anything underneath them and have never been cold, even sitting in the snow at 13,500 ft in 40 mph winds.

The only thing I would suggest for future models (a really easy fix) is some heavier inner ankle fabric guards. I have a number of holes on the inside legs from crampons and ski edges. A little 400 denier ripstop fabric sewn on the inside would be perfect. I did it myself, but after holes already appeared.

Favorite outdoor pant
Review by Yosi

Really like these pants. One issue, which I haven't addressed yet, is the inseam. I bought a pair for a gift, but they are too short for the recipient. No worries, as I will be taking on a second pair! Overall, been very happy with these, and all my other stio purchases. Great job.

Great Pants
Review by RH66

Easily the most comfortable pants I have owned. Comfort and functionality in one package. Can't give them 5 stars yet, if they are durable, then they will be the complete package.
