Great Townie
Review by TreeGuy

Bought this jacket before a trip to Boston this fall/winter. This thing is comfortable into the 30's with just a t shirt or short sleeved shirt underneath. It looks really nice and not being a "sweater" it ins't Michelin Man bulky either. I bought the blue and it is a little lighter blue than the website indicates but still looks great. The hand warmer pockets are lined and insanely cozy. I wonder if I should have bought the hoody but this is more for campfire and town than super technical do all like the other down offerings by Stio. Great product. I'll get the Durance or the hoody next year.

function and looks
Review by ouzel

This is my 6th Stio purchase and I have never been disappointed with quality design and function, well thought out with nothing extraneous but nothing missing just great products.

Awsome lightweight jacket that looks and feels great
Review by Brox

The day after I got the jacket, I got to test it out at the top of the Teton pass. It was around 25-30 degrees F with winds that gusted 35-40mph. Having toured that day, I was surprised and pleased with how warm yet breathable it was. Although I did find that it loses some down, I was impressed with the versatility and comfort of this product.

I get lots of positive comments on style and fit

Comfortable and light and fits well. Fleece pockets and neck are a nice bonus.

Great jacket...love Stio products
Review by NoVA Stio

Great jacket. Bought a large and the fit is perfect. Not to slim and not bulky. HavNen't had a chance to test it on a cold, cold day, but so far the warmth is more than adequate. Also, recieved a few compliments on the look of this jacket. Hard to go wrong with a quality product like Stio.

Super Comfy / Super Warm
Review by John Mark - Staff

This was the first down I've gotten from Stio. Very warm but not overly puffy for those of you who don't want to look like the Michelin Man. I've had a couple holes that I have had to be covered up, but lets be honest, what down jacket on market doesn't tear a little after extended use? Very great product at a reasonable price. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Warm and Light
Review by cuindurango

Nice jacket - very lightweight and warm. I particularly appreciate the variety and placement of the various pockets. The only thing I can see improvement on is the sleeves - there's a bit of elastic around the inside of the cuffs, presumably to ensure a snug fit - but it's cut too large to snug against my wrist. I'd also suggest that if - like me - you have longish arms order a size up. I'm 6'1" 180lbs and the large size sleeve just reaches to the wrist. Happy with the purchase - and it's pretty good looking, too!

Nicely styled Functional Fitting jacket, Nice level of Insulation
Review by mark v

Have been using this jacket daily,Outside general use and also for around town, well fitting, nicely designed with quality features. reasonably priced really like the med sized baffles and using Down Tech, Nice compromise from a small baffled Down sweater vs a Large Buffy Extreme cold Down parka Live in the Mid Atlantic with decent snow this winter but it is damp, cold Humid. the down has kept its loft very consistently and even in light drizzle the shell repelled the moisture well.

The sizing is well thought out, This medium fits me very comfortably Room in sleeves and torso normally now at my age stuck with most company's going to a large 5'8"/ 42" chest /30" Sleeve/ 33-34 waist and 180lbs So having a correctly proportioned Med is great.

Wish I had gone with the Hooded version

Recommend this jacket!

A beautiful jacket with thoughtful design details.
Review by Skiing in Vermont

This is a beautiful jacket with plenty of thoughtful design details. For my use a multi-purpose parka doesn't require a hood, and this new parka is just what I wanted. I love the color; it's a nice shade of gray with yellow details. I have no doubt this will hold up as well as any jacket made by the established manufacturers with more familiar names.

Just what I wanted
Review by Dave M

I bought the Hometown Down Jacket to replace one that I had for years. It's the perfect combination of lightweight, cozy and slim fit. I've received several compliments on the color (gray) with folks asking about the brand Stio.

Great multi purpose piece
Review by Wayne

Really well thought out details on this jacket include fleece lined handwarmer pockets and verticle zip chest pocket. Works great as a stand alone jacket or layered with an outer shell. Runs a bit big. I'm 185-lbs with a 42 chest / 33 waist - the large was to roomy, traded for a medium and the fit is near perfect.

Solid and with style
Review by DannyO

Warm, well made down jacket that will get through cold weather, around the town situations. Solid design that's made with attention to detail. Fit seems right on for an XL, but may appear a little puffy around the middle for taller folks.

Almost Great
Review by GR

The Hometown Down Jacket is a very comfortable, lightweight, and adequately warm jacket. Overall, it looks sharp, is made of quality materials, and offers a nice change of pace from the run of the mill TNF, Patagonia, or other usual suspect offerings.

Couple of things:

One, this jacket sheds a fair bit of down. I was a bit surprised to find that my clothing tends to pick up a few feathers one each wear - to the point that I find myself doing a down-check every time I come in from the cold.

Two, and the more egregious of the 2, I tend to wear my coat unzipped quite often. Because of this, I like my coats to have some good substantial structure, such that it can still hold it's shape. Unfortunately, the collar on this coat starts to form impromptu lapels - meaning that the standup collar doesn't really stand up, it folds/flaps off to the side. This is particularly true on the right side of the coat - - not sure if the chest zipper is what gives the left side the extra structure? In any case, I'm very disappointed in this issue, and may even consider returning the coat for just this reason alone.
