Very well designed jacket
Review by Byron

I bought this coat in "Sea Turtle" while it was on sale and I'm very glad to have it! The color is nice but the coat itself is very well designed, comfortable, and stylish.

To begin, the fit is perfect (I am 5'9"; weigh 180 lbs and bought a Medium). Very comfortable around the shoulders with just enough room to move, not constricting around the waist, and the back drops about an inch or two below the front, covering the waist well (no updraft worries when one bends over). Additionally, it is very lite for its size.

The collar doesn't stand up too high and is comfortable around the throat, as needed. The "metal snap" cuffs are easily adjustable but, more importantly, there is not a long "slit" along the underside of the arm that lets cold air blow up your forearm on a windy day! Another good design idea here that keeps the jacket closed to the elements.

The pockets are excellent. The two outside pockets are well placed and zip closed to keep any valuables inside. The inside pocket on the left side is big enough for a wallet or phone and zips closed as well. There is an additional pocket on the right, lower, side of the coat that is handy for storing something slightly larger than a wallet but does not close. Why Stio didn't add a zipper or velcro or something here to provide closure, I don't know. But it would be much better if they had. As it is, you risk losing whatever is in this pocket if, for some reason, you lie down or bend or twist in such a way to tip it. On the other hand, that's the lone flaw I found with this coat, so it's a minor quibble at best!

Great coat! Stio products are always quality but also expensive; you get what you pay for. Getting this on sale was a bonus for me and a great buy.

toughest down I ever had
Review by Ron

I've had about 12 of 15 down jackets in my life time. I tore holes in all 0f them except this one. It's warm on a cold, windy winter night. It's light, yet very strong on the exterior. Love the retro style, takes me back.

New favorite jacket
Review by Woodson

Great to have a jacket that you can wear to town and get things done at camp without a wardrobe change. This jacket truly has a wide range of uses and is so freakin comfortable.

Awesome All Around Jacket
Review by Ben

I live in MN where the winters are long and cold. I've been looking for a warm down jacket that doesn't necessarily look super techy but offers the performance of the more technical looking jackets. The Woodson definitely delivers. The two critiques I have are that it is almost too warm (not really anything wrong with that, I just wish I could wear it every day) and the outer fabric isn't as tough as I had thought. I spend a lot of time by fires in the winter and I'm sick of burning holes in my jackets. I think the Woodson will fare better than other jackets I've had in this capacity.

Lightweight, durable, very functional.
Review by Thomas K

This is a great hiking/camping jacket. Its warm for the weight, and packs down small like you would expect a more lightly built down jacket to. Fabric is durable and all the pockets/zippers/features are well thought out and put together. It looks good enough to wear out in town, is streamlined enough to wear as a layer under a parka or raincoat, and tough enough to wear in the woods.

The go to jacket
Review by Jamie S - Open Road Psychotherapy

The Woodson is like your favorite jeans or that pair of leather gloves you can't live without. After wearing this for a few days, I wondered how I ever got by without it. Unlike my technical puffy jackets, I don't mind chopping wood, or carrying bundles of kindling back into the house - it's tough and won't snag. As to style, it's immediately identifiable as an authentic western work jacket - but with a modern twist. I highly recommend the Woodson for all your adventures.
