Why We Built It

Mountain happiness is found in dawn-to-dusk adventures that keep us going all year long, and our Alpha® Alpine™ Hooded Jacket meets the demands of this go-go-go activity. Winner of Runner’s World 2016 Gear Of The Year Award, this ultra lightweight outer layer is built with Polartec® Alpha® breathable insulation, which actively regulates core temperatures by using a durable, high-loft fiber weave to dynamically move moisture out during activity, while a polyester mesh lining keeps core heat in. A highly breathable Meridian™ AP stretch mini-rip outer has a DWR that sheds light rain and circulates air. Stay warm during stop-and-start, higher output activities without the weight or bulk of traditional puffy insulation.

Insulation: 100% Polyester, Polartec® Alpha® Breathable Insulation, 60G, Bluesign Approved.

Alpha® is a 100% polyester knit active insulation that eliminates the need to shed layers while on the move. Designed to regulate core body temp during dynamic and static activities, Alpha® technology keeps moisture vapor moving freely through the fabric, increasing the overall air exchange and speeding up dry times. A DWR coating provides water resistance, increasing this fabric's performance in the most challenging environments.

OMG This Jacket Is Soooooo Comfortable
Review by Lynn

Best jacket. Ever.

Best Jacket Ever
Review by Becca

This is literally my favorite jacket of all time. Comfort and versatility are the most important factors in the outwear game for me and this jacket kills it on both fronts. It's seriously as cozy as a cotton hoody, but performs really well in a variety of conditions. I totally didn't expect to love it this much when I originally got it, but it's the first thing I find myself reaching for whether it's windy, rainy, chilly, freezing cold, or I just need something to throw on to walk in to a restaurant after a long day in the mountains (the reversability is great for this too since one side can be your 'dirty' side and the other one your 'clean' side). It manages moisture so well that I don't have to take it off for a sweaty hike or steep climb on my mountain bike and I love the blue colors. Worth every penny!

Please never stop making this jacket, Stio! I'm obsessed.

For reference, I'm 5'7" and about 115-120 lbs and I got the small. I wanted to size up for comfort and so I could wear it over some layers for colder-weather activities and I love the fit.

Versatile and Reversible!
Review by MM - Staff

This jacket kept me warm while snowshoeing and cross-country skiing and is lightweight enough to fold up in your backpack when you need to shed layers. The hood is a great feature, and the fact that it is reversible is an extra bonus.

Lightweight Warmth

I'm 5'2", 116 lbs and I got the XS. It's great with just a shirt or light layer under it. I'll be taking this one on my next trip as it's very packable as well.

More colors please!

Would love to see some new colors! Hoping new color ways come out in spring!

Review by Britt Johnston

I am not much of a review writer, but i just had to for this jacket. I live in a mountain town and for the past 2 years every run, bike ride, hike, cross country ski or alpine ski this jacket has kept me warm and comfortable. So versatile in all seasons and conditions. WORTH EVERY PENNY. And it is great looking on! Thanks Stio!

The 2 in 1 jacket!

Love the reversibility! It's like getting a two fer...This jacket is great for all seasons! If you're looking for a lightweight jacket to wear year-round...This is your jacket! Fits true to size. I ordered a small and it fits perfect. 5'6", 120lbs

dreamy layer
Review by Madison (Staff)

I got to know this jacket quite well this winter - I wore it on almost every long run I logged training for a spring marathon. It's hands-down my favorite active layer. It's so soft and light, but provides amazing warmth (and I run cold...) without making you overheat and soak through your layers. I often used all 3 pockets at once on a run. The hood is a great feature - there when you want it, but won't bother you when you don't. Runner's World was right about this one!Fits true to size - I'm 5ft 5in, 120-125 lbs, and wear a size SM.

This light jacket is so useful. It is a great extra layer on a freeezing day and perfect on a moderate day. You might think it wouldn't be that useful as it is neighter completely waterproof or completely warm. Interstingly, I have found it to be one of my most worn jackets -- useful in some way in all four NH seasons. Stio zipper is very high quality. Hood design is fantastic. I love it.

Solid Piece

I think of this as a high performing fleece with a far more polished appearance. This is as soft and comfortable as any fleece but the nylon sheds elements a bit better. A great piece for early morning adventures!

All day wear, every activity
Review by Caitlin - Staff

I ran a 5k in the upper 20's in March along the lake in Chicago (that wind is harsh!) with nothing but a tech tee underneath. I was comfortable and able to focus on the race. This summer I wore it to Colorado, running a much longer race and climbing to 10,00ft on a hike soon after. This jacket can handle any activity and keeps your body temp level. It's comfortable, soft, and reversible! For Chicagoans, it's a great insulation piece beneath your Modis Jacket or hardshell for those chilly rough commutes too!

Lightweight Insulation for Cool transitions
Review by Caroline/Staff

I've been wearing this all over town this spring and it feels great against my skin, as well as over long sleeve tees. The knit construction keeps it light without feeling too bulky. Wears like a sweatshirt. I never overheat in it which is great because I'm always on the move!

I LOVE this jacket
Review by Nancy

I love this jacket. So much! When I first received it, I was suprised by how light it felt - how could this airy, light, soft jacket be warm enough for spring/fall days? It is!! I haven't taken it off, on chilly mornings, chilly days, chilly evenings, and I imagine wearing it under rain gear or extra layers if needed because the fabric is so soft and comfortable that I don't want to take it off. I've reversed it to the green side for visibility, and the design is so perfect that there is a bike pocket on this side. I don't have much of a shape, and the cut of the jacket is simple yet complimentary. My only sadness is that because I've been wearing this jacket a lot, and work outside a lot, the fabric in the front lower area, below the pockets, has little snags, I'm guessing from hauling lumber. I may just purchase a second one so that I have one for work, and one that I keep a bit cleaner!

multi-use lightweight insulated jacket for spring and summer
Review by Caroline/Staff

I wore this on a quick 4 mile run yesterday and it was the perfect weight to beat the afternoon April chill (in Wyoming!) but still kept me cool when I picked up the pace. I was able to reverse it to the bright green side for running on the road. Looking forward to sporting this for an array of activities!

Incredibly Multi-functional
Review by LW-Staff

This jacket is absolutely amazing! I just spent a week in the desert with it and had it on the entire time! I wore it every day biking with the Women's Divide Hoodie or Tech Tee underneath and it did a fantastic job of keeping me both warm and protected from the wind but also super dry and not at all sweaty. I was actually amazed with how breathable this jacket felt even on really sunny days when I was biking. I even slept in this jacket a few nights when the temps dropped and it was super cozy and soft to sleep in. I am a huge advocate for this jacket and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone looking for a great mid-layer for any season. I am 5'4" and 120lbs and the Small fits great.
