Environ Jacket
Review by Dave

I've had my eye on the royal blue Environ jacket for a while but, with one kid still in college, was having trouble justifying the the $425 price tag. Imagine my delight when the last royal blue in my size (L) went on sale and I was now able to rationalize the $340 sale price! Ski'd this past weekend in Colorado and it was "single digits" cold and "minus" with the wind factored in. On the first run, I quickly realized that with a long sleeve base layer, zip-up turtle neck and vest I was under-dressed. I adjusted on day two adding another layer. Problem solved. The jacket is wonderfully constructed and fits like a glove. Eager to break it out on a powder day. Great job gang. Stio is my new favorite gear company!

Great Jacket
Review by Jim

I bought this jacket (women's) for my wife. I had no plans of buying one for myself as I have more gear than any one man needs. After I checked out my wife's jacket, I decided I needed one as well. No regrets. I am 5'11" tall, weight 180. The medium is a perfect fit. Shoulders and arms have plenty of room to move and the torso fit is truly perfect in part because the powder skirt brings the jacket in for an athletic fit. Sleeve length brings top cuff just short of knuckles on my gloves which will be great on snow/wet days. Breathes very well. Venting zippers are well made and placed. Tested over three warm days.

Best Jacket I've Ever Purchased
Review by Jay

After skiing my entire life with what I thought were pretty good jackets and shells, I now realize that I actually have the best ski jacket I could possibly buy. The Environ is super durable, wicks and vents perfectly, has the pockets where I need them, covers the helmet well when it's blowing, and looks sweet. Pairs perfectly with the Pinion sweater. This company has it dialed.

Bomber Jacket during major storms
Review by Perfect Day

So really got to test out my Environ Jacket (Falcon) along w the Environ bibs (Split Pea) this past weekend. Ski resort had most the main chairlifts shut down for high winds. Was snowing all day, low 20's. i just skied all day, laughed at the weather. Really dig the hood as it goes over my helmet and stays on! Also like how the cuffs are cut on an angle. Removes excess material at the wrist. Only wish there was a ski pass holder in the left arm. Other than that, perfect!

Essential Piece
Review by Josh

Environ Jacket: can’t say enough.
I am 5’ 10” 205lbs and the XL fits true to size. I’ve been in the outdoor industry, facing the elements for more than 30 years. This is by far the best engineered Jacket I’ve ever used. Great ergonomic fit, great features, great styling. I love it.
I got the pea green color. My only comment would be to tune up the cord a tad bit away from the muted earth tones.
All in all, my favorite Jacket!

Review by Josh

I was a bit skeptical, but this is really a great jacket. It’s git a super robust face fabric. It almost wears like a carhart jacket. It runs large; in 6’2” and 208lbs with a somewhat muscular build and a large is perfect. Plenty of room to layer and move around. I would be swimming in the XL. The Toray fabric is nice, and I’m glad to see more companies using it. This thing feels like it will last several seasons of use. Super happy with this purchase!

Environ Coat - Great Coat
Review by Neal

So far I've worn this coat only 5 days this season but I am very impressed with Stio so far. Thanks for a great coat

Review by ryan foley

Could use a window pocket on waist gaitor for season pass. I’m using diff pants and will have snaps sewed into gator so they can loop into belt loops on pants. All in All, an incredibly well made jacket. Was a burton disciple for years. The storm hood Going over a helmet was the deal maker for me along w quality and followers of the brand.

Environ Jacket

Review by Andrew Wylie

Loved the coat but it felt light. With the cold NE winters and skiing at Whiteface, need a warmer jacket. Exchanged it.

Review by Scott

Amazing jacket, especially for price point. Great helmet friendly hood with excellent peripheral vision.
Lots of pockets and a nice powder skirt
Only improvements would be sleeve cuffs and a Napoleon zip for direct access thru coat to next layer- where many keep cell phones.

Solid outerware protection
Review by bdogg62

With the season underway and already numerous storm days on the mountain I have spent many hours in my Environ Jacket (and bibs). Features included but often not done well on other shells; like the true helmet compatibility of the hood stand out. From single digit blower full on white room dsys to rhime and freezing rain the Environ excells in protection. One small quibble; a pass pocket on the left arm would be appreciated however the pass tucked into the left side chest pocket works well enough. There is no doubt that the Environ rises to the top in terms of quality and function.

My New Favorite Jacket
Review by MGahrns

Like another reviewer, I was a little apprehensive buying a jacket online without being able to try it on. But it fits great, good sleeve length (I am 6'3", and often sleeves are too short). But even if you have different size needs, don't worry, Stio has great customer service. On another purchase I had a mislabeled item that needed to be returned and in a very prompt and friendly fashion Stio sent me a return postage label to easily return the item. I love all the pockets, especially the outer chest and inner pockets. Breathes great, sheds water great and is easy to layer with an inner jacket for really cold days. BTW I went with a Stio Lofted Sky insulated jacket for the inner one which worked great underneath this. Definitely my new favorite jacket after trying a bunch of other shells and downs. The only thing I would change is add an RFID pass holder in the sleeve.

Best jacket i've ever owned!
Review by Nick

This is hands down the best jacket i have ever owned! Super water proof, well fitting and rare for these days tough. Get it

Review by Pippi

This was a gift for my husband and so much better than I had even anticipated. It was a perfect fit for a 6'2" guy slim guy. Typically he has issues with the arms and it was perfect in both jacket and arm length! Color, zippers, materials, amount of pockets. All spot on! I wish the women's jacket had as many pockets!!!
He loves it and I am so pleased! Stio is our new favorite "go to!" Can't best it for quality, functionality, style and price! Well done.

Next Year
Review by JGE

6'1" 180 lbs. bought a medium. Fits to a T. Looks like great quality, but I bought it for next year and haven't worn it on mountain. One upgrade would be hand pocket liners.

Clean aesthetic and quality design and detailing.
Review by Onefin

I was apprehensive to purchase a jacket online without feeling it or trying it on.
I live in a mountain town and tried on every jacket that I could, none of them were exactly what I wanted, and some were horrible in design and quality.
I kept coming back to the Stio website and eventually pulled the trigger.
No regrets on this, as the quality of design, and construction is so much better than the other brands I tried on.
Fits me perfect, feels quality, and looks great.
It also feels nice to not have the same brand of stuff as everyone else.
Quality and design on par with, or better than patagucci and the dead bird from Canada; if you are cross shopping.
Stio offers a better value than either one of those brands too.
I dig Stio.
I had to buy my jacket on sale, as I prefer skiing to working; your situation many differ.

Best Jacket I've Ever Owned
Review by Drew

This jacket is amazing! It is completely wind and waterproof - I've used it as a raincoat as well as my top layer for skiing and have never gotten a drop of water on me. It's still super comfortable and flexible though, especially in the back of the neck (which is always a sensitive area for me).

I got it in blue and it stands out on the mountain, but is still stylish enough to wear around on a daily basis.

I love all of the pockets. It has every tech spec you could ask for from powder skirt to pit zips to removable hood.

I'm 5'10" 170lbs and the Medium fits me well. Jacket runs on the shorter side, so if you are taller, you might want to consider going up a size.

Excellent jacket!!!
Review by Bernardi

This jacket is great in any skiing condition, from wet snow to cold dry snow.

Everything they say it is
Review by Dixie

I posted a picture on FB skiing here at Heavenly and my buddy says, "How old is that jacket? It's the same one you were wearing when I came out in 2004!" So I figured it was time. I had never heard of Stio and came across the company in a K2 picture of all things. Anyway, as a huge fan of Jackson Hole I took the time to learn about the company and the products. I'm glad I did. I bought a jacket and pants and three days after they arrived I headed to Whistler Blackcomb for the week.

If you've ever skied there you know the weather is all sorts of crazy. During my week I skied in rain, light snow, heavy snow, fog, clouds, sub-freezing, and wind. The jacket held up to all of it. I layered with a base and a light fleece up top and just a base below. I was plenty warm. I took the hood off/on a few times - weather dependent - and it was super easy. All the pockets were great for RFID, maps, phone, etc. I even had a lift attendant tell me she loved my jacket. Nice!

Not only would I recommend the Environ line I plan to purchase another pair of pants. Variety is the spice of life! Hopefully in person. I need an excuse to get back to JH. Peace

Excellent Jacket
Review by Balddaddy

I've been consistently unhappy with whatever shell I'm using for about the last 5 years until I found this jacket. Whether at the resort or backcountry, this jacket is roomy enough to layer, but not baggy, and has everything you want from pockets, pit zips, powder skirt, etc. Great jacket at a competitive price.

Outstanding Jacket
Review by Surfski

Like all of the Stio gear in our family this jacket didn't disappoint. The fit is perfect and craftsmanship is great, well thought out design. Its definitely a versitale shell, from a great shelter in heavy snow to all the vents opened up on a skin up the mountain.
This is now my go to jacket,

Best on the Mountain
Review by tetontails

A very good product, excellent mobility, nice pocket selection, fully functional. Haven't seen too many of these on the mountain yet. People your missing out!

Great shell...a bit pricey but high quality and very functional
Review by wb4z

Great shell with many awesome functions.

Net Positive
Review by Bob

I very much like the fit, style, pocket configuration of the Environ Jacket.
The cut of the jacket is great…somewhat tailored but offering ample layering potential. Pit zips and powder skirt are great features for all-mountain weather conditions.
The only downside is that the zippers seem stubborn, stiff on the slide track…not a smooth pull.
I have not been in serious weather to test waterproofness since my past experience has been with classic Gortex. Will be an interesting comparison.
I am pleased with the jacket and believe this is a huge upgrade from Stio's past attempts at competing with the Patagoinia Primo or Arcteryx equivalent. The waterproof/breathability technology is new and unknown. Track record?

Has all the features I want!
Review by Gpnanos

This jacket is thoughtfully made for a wide range of ski activities. What I like- nice durable hand to fabric but not too heavy or stiff. Pockets in all the right places but not too many zippers and extra fabric to keep it lighter, hood can be adjusted big or small, angled cuffs add fabric outward for coverage but not Palm-ward to cover gloves, roomy for layers but not bulky, no extra snaps and loops for snow-skirt (who really needs that, anyway!). Great price/value!! For me works for resort, side country, heli, cat, blower. Perhaps may be too steamy, less breathable for really high energy backcountry pursuits where you want something more packable, but that is really for another type of jacket (I have a different jacket I use, guessing the stio snotel covers that also)

Rockstar jacket

While researching for a new go to jacket to shed the harsh elements of life on the road I stumbled across a review in a magazine about STIO! Jumping jack I hit the jackpot with this Co! I'm not very easily satisfied ! The Environ jacket filled my back stage rider like a VIP! American Co. Check! Great fit. Check! Sheds water like a duck. Check! Comfortable. Check! Keeps you warm. Check! Pair it with the Wilcox fleece jacket and you have the multi tool jacket to keep you comfortable in any weather you might come across while on the highways, byways and backcountry you might come across on life's adventures in the good old USA! So fire up the interwebs and get you one from the good folks at STIO and you can thank the sunshine cowboy for recommending the best multi tool jacket out on the market today!

One fine jacket
Review by Shoe

I purchased this jacket during the Black Friday sale and have been waiting to get some weather to test it in. The jacket looks great and is nothing but quality. I bought a large which fits great. I'm 6' 195 lbs. This leaves plenty of room to layer but fits fine with just a T if I want. It would be the perfect jacket with an internal chest pocket and a pocket on the lower sleeve for a lift pass. With that being said I'm still super happy with the jacket. The cad yellow is awesome and I love the removable hood, multiple pockets and the must have pit zips. I highly recommend this jacket for anyone that's in the market for a new one.

Best Jacket I have ever, ever purchased
Review by Rhygin

It took me about 2 minutes to realize this is the best fitting (for me) and most well thought out jacket I have ever purchased. Cuffs, hood, zippers, tough construction. It was clear it was the best jacket that I have ever owned and I had not even used it yet. Few days of wind and rain while skiing has confirmed it. A bit spendy for me, but definitely worth it. Looks sharp too!

Neither wind, nor rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night...
Review by Smitty

I bought this to replace a 10 yr. old Cloudveil jacket that had finally hit the wall. Yeah, I keep my stuff for a long time except for skis and boots. This jacket is "stout" and by that I mean you can throw all kinds of stuff at it and it will hold up and keep you warm and dry. The hood is awesome and fits nicely over my helmet covered cranium; a must for skiing in Vermont. The texture sheds liquids both the wet and solid and the zippers are keenly located and easy to grab thanks to the nifty tags. This is must jacket for your wardrobe and, because it's a shell, you can wear it for a variety of weather conditions. In fact, buy two if you can because you know you need one in black too.

Great jacket
Review by Kevin

I've had a lot of jackets over the years but this is one of the best. The fabric is top shelf, zippers smooth and the fit is superior. I've had more positive inquiries about this jacket than any other I've worn. It was worn approximately 30 times this season and performed great in wet snow, rain and sunny days. I would highly recommend the Environ Jacket.

All conditions coat
Review by AB

Never had a coat that handled varible weather as well as Environ. Really nice fit around the neck when fully zipped up. Roomy but not baggy. Have worn with a teeshirt and a full down coat under. Nice surprises....removeable hood connection and the inside kangaroo pouch pockets for exta goggles or hat.

Best ski shell I've ever had
Review by P2

I'm a gear-guy., always looking for a better jacket, and I've tried them all. I've tried top of the line jackets from all the big names in the industry and this is hands down the best I've had. I've used it from -20degree days with a puffy underneath to 40degree sunny days. It vents well, keeps you dry, and doesn't limit your ability to move. Love it! I'm 5'11' and 160lbs and the Med fits me well. Snug, with good sleeve length, but enough room to layer when needed.

Love the Jacket
Review by Rs6er

Just came back from skiing in Telluride. I wore the Environ jacket every day. I had bluebird and snow days. The jacket worked for all of them. The hood worked great with and without a helmet— it turned with my head and never obstructed my vision. I was also glad that it was removable. If I could change a few things: I'd like an inside chest pocket instead of two outside ones. I agree with the poster who'd like a powder skirt. I'd prefer that the jacket weren't quite so stiff— don't know if this will change with time. Nits only, as this jacket seems bulletproof and very stylish. I got the Eiffel Tower which is a slightly purplish grey which I love, but outside of black or orange, I can't quite figure out what color pants will work with it.

All the right stuff
Review by Mark K Adventure Filmmaker

I have not put my new Environ jacket to hard use yet, but is appears to be exactly as advertised: well made, stylish but without unneeded frills. Subtle stretch is unique in my experience for breathable hard shell. Having a fine and functional hood that can still be removed also sets this jacket apart from all others in its hard core class. Stio put some real thought into this jacket and the price makes it a value.

Home run guys!

You guys rock! Love the fit and performance of the Environ jacket. Couldn't be happier.

Great Shell but could use a snow skirt & lift ticket cord or window
Review by Craig

My go-to shell right now. I would rate it 5-stars if it had a snow skirt and built-in lift ticket cord or window. Recommended even without those features.

Love it so far
Review by Dave

Great fit, and very well constructed. Have only skied in it for a few days, but so far so good in rain, snow, etc. Looks even nicer in person than online.

Review by Thomas

I purchased this jacket for skiing in the Northeast .... I am a member of the National Ski Patrol and when not on duty needed a replacement for my Patagonia shell which my son took with him to Colorado. I find this product to be much better than the Patagonia my son took with him to Colorado. Love the soft collar around my neck and can pull it over my lower face when the cold wind blows . The quality is immediately recognizable . Simply put......one fine jacket.

Already have one. Bought this version because of the removable hood feature. Great lightweight/waterproof jacket.

superb shell!!

very nice- well constructed with plenty of pockets! Has kept me very dry through some awful weather!

Excellent Value
Review by JKR

Very comparable to ski jackets by Arciteryx and Patagonia that i considered but much better value for your $ and sets you apart since everyone else on the slope will not have the same coat as you.

Terrific jacket
Review by Chip

Love the design, functionality, and fit. Great product and a reasonable price point!

environ jacket
Review by Lloyd w

The jacket is awesome, the pockets and vents are great and easy to use, the zippers don't bind up. It is missing a much needed powder skirt but otherwise it is a great technical shell to have in the arsenal

A detail driven jacket
Review by dwatz

One of the best outdoor jackets I've ever owned. It breathes extremely well, blocks the wind, is the perfect combination of relaxed and athletic fit, and wears as well on the town as it does in the mountains

My new go-to shell
Review by NW (staff)

Put this jacket through the paces at JHMR this past weekend in high winds and stormy / snowy, cold conditions. Performed really well. It's very light and comfortable, allows for great range of motion and is easy to layer under. Classic design but has a few details that differentiate it from anything else on the mountain...Dig the beefy, storm-sealed zippers.
