Sam is an entrepreneur and athlete. After 10 years as a professional big mountain skier, he transitioned into entrepreneurship through his start-up Avant Delivery, a tech-enabled reusable packaging company. Sam is dedicated to solving important societal problems and giving back to the community. He believes in using private business to drive lasting change and gives his personal time to help mentor underserved high school students in the mountains. In his spare time, he dives deep into 100 mile ultra races, ski mountaineering, bow hunting and cooking.

Which of Stio's values personally align to you?

Stewardship. Growing up in Jackson, WY, I've already won the life lottery. Then I had the opportunity to have a decade-long career as a professional skier. I've been given so much in my short 27 years that I've become dedicated to stewardship. To make things better than I left them, and to do it in style. Stio reflects that sense of stewardship by creating clothes that I can live in, and not just recreate in. I use the same Stio products for 100-mile mountaineering missions and pitching venture capital investors.

How do you create balance in your daily life?

Life has a seasonal balance to it. Rarely do humans find balance in a daily routine. As an entrepreneur and professional athlete I go through periods of extreme intensity in specific areas. Some months it's all business. Some months it's all mountain running. Some months it's all skiing. I find balance by consistently putting myself where my attention is best served. It keeps me refreshed to switch up the routine/challenge every few months.

What is a bucket list activity you have yet to do or a place that you have yet to go?

Italy/France to ski, run in the mountains, and devour the food/wine culture.

What is your go-to workout music?

M83 - Outro. I blasted this ethereal song before doing a double black flip at the Kings and Queens of Corbet's event. What a moment that was, amplified by the song.

What is a piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to pursue a life of mountain sports and adventures?

Do it in your own style. Go out and pick adventures that align with you. People rally around authenticity, giving you a platform to pursue the adventurous life. Most importantly, you can feel great about yourself and your daily life when you do it in your own style.
