Sophie was born and raised in Vermont, but currently resides in Basalt, Colorado with her husband Simi and her one year old daughter, Lilly. After graduating college, Sophie was a professional cross country ski racer for nine years and competed in two Olympic games. She now enjoys playing and adventuring outside without a race bib on and can't wait to take her daughter on snowy adventures this winter.

Which of Stio's values personally align to you?

I love the value "Balance is Key". Whether racing professionally, tackling life as a new mom, or navigating life after ski racing, I've always valued feeling balanced. I feel best when I am spending time and communicating with the ones I love, being a kind person, and spending time outside and when I am able to balance these things, life feels quite good.

How do you create balance in your daily life?

Life looks a lot different with a ten month old baby than it did a year ago. Balance used to be about balancing my daily activities, but now there's another little human that absorbs a lot of my time and love, so I while I still like to feel balanced, I think it's also a lot easier to let the little things go when my priority is now someone else. If I can find a little time for myself and be able to spend a lot of my time with my daughter, it feels like a pretty nice balance.

What is a bucket list activity you have yet to do or a place that you have yet to go?

I would love to go back to Europe and visit a lot of the places we ski raced, but do it as recreation now.

What is your go-to workout music?

I don't usually listen to music when I'm outside exercising, but I like listening to Chris Stapleton radio in the evenings.

What is a piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to pursue a life of mountain sports and adventures?

Remember to occasionally put your phone down and enjoy the quiet, beautiful moments for yourself.
