At Stio, we live the mountain life and are fueled by moments that accompany it, experiences worth sharing. The Stio Home Team is a group of people who truly believe in the power of nature and live the mountain life daily. This winter’s home team is filled with outdoor advocates and aspiring athletes, skiers and snowboarders, avalanche educators and more.
Environmental Educator | Oregon | @gen_n_juus
As a Native woman she sees the land as a form of connection to her ancestors, and is constantly seeking reciprocity to pay respect to the land and her gifts. When Geneva is not recreating on the land and building connections, she is educating the younger generation on becoming environmental stewards. She is excited to use her experience to make more connections beyond the outdoor industry, and hopes to help make the outdoors more accessible for all, specifically Native relatives and BIPOC community members.
Artist & Outdoor Advocate | Colorado | @drawingfromnature
Inspired by the lines found in nature, Andrea’s sketchbooks are filled with the lines and words connected throughout the landscapes she explores. She’s the creative force behind the Drawing From Nature Studio, which has collaborated with many Colorado and Outdoor Industry based companies, including Coalition Snow, Osprey Packs, and Wild Rye to name a few.
Her work has been published in SISU Magazine, 5280, The Art of Education, and Elevation Outdoors voters named her “Best People/Instagrammer” for the Best of the Rockies 2019. Andrea works out of her home studio in Denver, Colorado and is an associate professor of Art Education at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design. Resort Design & Planning | Idaho | @emily.empowered
Splitboarding is Emily’s favorite thing in the world to do. She and her husband have built a life that revolves around what they love in the small mountain community of McCall, Idaho. Emily works in resort design and planning, where she seeks to balance development impacts with the access to recreation in sensitive mountain environments.
Getting out to play is critical to maintaining creative vision for her work, and you'll find Emily on dawn patrol tours, taking lunch on the Nordic trails, and riding under the lights at Little Ski Hill after work. On the weekends, she's immersed in the mountain.

At age 12 her family moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where she joined the telemark race team (yes, telemark racing is a sport!) and made the US Telemark Ski Team by age 15. Six seasons and a lot of European travel later, she retired from the World Cup circuit and transitioned into the big mountain world of telemark skiing, competing and podiuming in three Freeheel Life Cup competitions at Targhee.
Avalanche Educator & Guide | California | @aliagee
Ali is an AIARE Avalanche Educator and AMGA Assistant Ski Guide based out of Truckee, CA. She grew up in the Reno/Tahoe area and has always had a strong passion for moving through these mountains. On her journey toward becoming a ski guide, she's had the opportunity to ski and rock climb in multiple venues including the Sierra Nevada, Cascades, Tetons, Japan, Canada, and beyond.
When she isn't sliding around on snow, you can bet that she's riding her mountain bike or advocating for the human-powered winter backcountry skiing community in Lake Tahoe as a board member of the Tahoe Backcountry Alliance
Writer & Outdoor Educator | California | @c_highland
Carolyn is a writer and outdoor educator who enjoys teaching language arts in ski pants, pocket cheese sticks, and deep, meaningful conversations on the skintrack. When not in the classroom or in the field with students, Carolyn can be found cooking up big ski tours and trail runs in the Sierra.
Carolyn's first book, Out Here: Wisdom from the Wilderness, was published by Rocky Mountain Books in 2020 and is available where books are sold. This past fall, Carolyn was featured in the Backcountry Magazine film series "The New Class," profiling the modern ski bum.

Mountain Guide | Colorado | @blue_bel18
Bel grew up in the small mountain town of Crested Butte, CO. Her parents put her on skis as soon as she could walk, and outdoor culture was a strong presence in her life. Although skiing is her favorite outdoor sport, she also enjoys riding mountain bikes, snowmobiles, climbing, and rafting.
Teacher & Athlete | Colorado | @shredwardstomps
Originally from the East Coast, Ed moved west for skiing and the outdoors. After nearly a decade coaching freeride in Crested Butte, Ed transitioned to the Front Range of Colorado, where he now works as a seventh grade social studies teacher.
Though his priorities have shifted and his days are significantly more limited, he manages to make them count, both at the resort and in the backcountry. When the school year ends, Ed spends his summers as a fly-fishing guide. Other non-snow hobbies include camping, biking, and settling the frontiers of Catan.

Mountain Manager | California | @shesabadmamajama
Caroline never thought she would live in California, but now she calls the mountains around Lake Tahoe home. After living all over the Rocky Mountain West, the Sierras are a dazzling place to be. Her favorite way to spend time is picking a spot on the map that there’s little to no research on and finding a way to get there. The top activities she enjoys are ski-venturing, alpine-clambering, and heinous-bushwhacking. Mostly, she wishes it was winter all the time and loves the adventures she gets to do out her back door.
Professionally, Caroline became the first woman Mountain Manager of Kirkwood Mountain Resort. This opportunity has been humbling, tons of work, and thoroughly rewarding. Additionally, she is on the board of the avalanche rescue dog foundation, and on the local watershed council.
