Growing up in Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley, Simi spent most of his waking hours as a kid exploring the Elk Mountains. From backcountry skiing in the winter to climbing and kayaking in the summer, he's always made the most of any and all types of mountain travel. Now a full-time mountain guide, Simi enjoys showing others his most beloved spots in his home range, although his favorite thing to do outside is adventure with his daughter, Lilly, and wife (and fellow Stio ambassador), Sophie.
Stio's commitment to getting people from all backgrounds outside is the most profound and important goal the company focuses on and succeeds in. The more people in the world that can get outside and appreciate our outdoor landscapes, the better off we'll be and the better stewards we'll be for our planet.
I try not to get too compulsive about a single activity or task. I feel like I live in too beautiful a place to only do one or two activities all the time, so I try to do as many as I can that compliment each other. Some are slow-paced and deliberately meditative and some are just pure, objective, type-one fun.
As a ski racer I spent a lot of time in Alaska either training or racing, but I've never been up there to climb and ski mountaineer. Of course there are so many places in the world that I want to go to climb and ski, but Alaska is a place that every respectable climber and skier has to go at some point in their life.

Get out and do it. It doesn't matter how far you go, how skilled you are or the equipment you're using. The first step to finding yourself immersed in this life is to just go do it.
